NATIONAL FIELD FUTURITY

A Futurity is a Breeder’s Stake, formulated to encourage the breeding of high-quality performance Irish Setters and reward the breeders for their efforts. As a Breeder’s stake for the ISCA, all Futurity-nominated litters must be bred wholly or in part by a member of the Irish Setter Club of America and all owners of individually-nominated dogs must be current or pending ISCA members to enter the Futurity. Litter nomination birth dates are from November 1 – October 31 for the Futurity to be held at least two but not more than three years after the month of birth.

The Futurity is a 30-minute stake that is run on wild birds, if possible. A second series may be held at the discretion of the Judges. The standard for the stake will be those of the American Kennel Club Derby Stake, with dogs judged primarily on inherited traits rather than training.

The most important of these are:

POINTING STYLE –Dogs must point staunchly and with intensity. Anything lower than a rigid, level, tail shall be unacceptable.

SPEED – Dogs should be fast and move effortlessly; they should cover a lot of ground, be independent and have an attractive style of running.

BIRD SENSE – Dogs must show intense desire for birds and intelligence in the use of the wind in searching likely cover. A good nose is essential. To place, a dog MUST FIND AND POINT BIRDS. A blank gun will be used in this stake.

STAMINA – A dog shall show its stamina by the energy and strength it displays at the end of the brace.

HANDLING – Dogs should be biddable.

All futurity entries must have acceptable pigmentation and eye color according to the latest Standard published by the ISCA. If an owner/breeder is in doubt as to whether a dog will qualify, a color photograph should be sent to the Futurity Chairman at least six (6) months prior to the drawing. If this is not done, the Futurity Committee has the option to approve or disapprove the dog at the running of the Trial.
1996 Amendment: All Futurity entries must come to the trial in a full coat as Futurity dogs may have no more white than the standard allows for coat, color, pigmentation. Dog may be clipped prior to running.
2003 Amendment: All Futurity entries are required to have an AKC DNA profile and be identified with a microchip implant. Dogs will not be drawn unless this information is received by the trial secretary prior to the start of the drawing.

ISCA National Field Futurity Nomination Procedures

Litter Enrollments for the 2010 National Field Futurity are being accepted for litters born November 1, 2007, through October 31, 2008

PROCEDURE FOR ELIGIBILITY: (You must be an ISCA Member to nominate your litter)
1. a) Within 60 days of whelping, Fill out Litter Enrollment Form and
b) Submit Enrollment Form and nomination fee of $10.00 for the litter
c) In return, you will be provided with a Certificate of Eligibility for each individual dog and bitch in the litter to be provided to the puppy owner(s).
d) (Optional) Send a list of names and addresses of each individual owner so that the Futurity Secretary may send them re-nomination forms and timely reminders of when re-nominations are due.

2. Before pups are one year of age, Owners fill out individual re-nomination form and submit re-nomination form and fee of $10.00 for each dog.

3. For the Pup’s Futurity year, individual owners who are not ISCA members should apply for membership in order to be eligible to enter the Futurity.

4. Enter Futurity Stake at the National Field Trial. All dogs entered in the Futurity are required to have an AKC DNA profile and be identified with a microchip implant. Dogs will not be drawn unless DNA and corresponding microchip number is received by the Trial Secretary prior to the start of the drawing.

LATE NOMINATION FEES:

Litter Nominations:
If nominated within 60 and 120 days after whelping, a $25.00 late fee will be added to the Litter nomination fee, making a total of $35.00 due.

If nominated within 121 days to 6 months after whelping, a $50.00 late fee will be added to the Litter Nomination Fee, making a total of $60.00 due.
No litter nominations will be accepted after 6 months of age.

Individual Dog Re-Nominations:
If re-nominated within 12-15 months of age, a $25.00 late fee will be added to the re-nomination fee, making a total of $35.00 due.

If re-nominated after 15 months of age, re-nominations will be accepted for individual dogs only until June 1 of the year for which the litter is nominated (for 2010, that is June 1, 2010), by payment of the original $10.00 fee plus a $50.00 late fee, making a total of $60.00 due.
No re-nomination will be accepted after June 1 of Futurity Year.
