I'm Bella and I’m 9 years young. I've had multiple
litters of puppies – but no more of that nonsense 'cause
I've been spayed. I'm current on vaccinations, house- and
crate-trained, heartworm negative (on monthly preventative),
and microchipped. I have hypothyroidism, so I'm taking daily
hormone replacement and doing well. I have a delicate build,
weigh about 55 pounds, and a have a cute ridge of hair
running down my nose. Don't let the gray on my face fool you
– I am an active girl who loves to play, pounce, and share
what I'm thinking. Foster mom says I'm a real sweetheart,
even though I talk back. I like to snuggle and be petted. I
will gently remind you that I'm there and if you're not
doing something with that hand - 'PET ME'! I like playing
and wrestling with other dogs. I also do OK with kitties.
I've had a bit of a rough time – I had to have surgery to
remove 6 tumors from my mammary glands and had 2 teeth
extracted too. Thank goodness the rescue people were there
to take care of me! I'm looking for a family that will give
me all the petting and snuggles I need, routinely check me
for lumps, provide a couch for naps, and have a nice fenced
yard for romping around in. Bella is in foster care near
Raleigh, NC. Contact Bonnie.

MISTY
I'm Misty, but I prefer to be called "Her Royal Highness".
My birthday is March 04, 2001 and I have an impressive
pedigree. I'm up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm
negative and on prevention, and crate- and house-trained.
And my feathers are finally starting to grow out! When the
rescue people found out I had diabetes, they wanted the best
for me because I'm such a special girl, so I got to go on a
plane ride from Oklahoma to reach my foster home near
Raleigh. Guess what! My cousin Danny lives there, too!
There are benefits - and disadvantages - of living with a
vet when you have a medical challenge (they can be so-o-o
strict). I'm on a restricted diet (Prescription w/d) and
receive insulin injections twice-a-day. Foster mom also
checks my blood glucose levels - yep, I have my own special
doggy glucose meter. Anyway, my diabetes is under control,
my weight is stable (when I was diagnosed, I weighed 42
pounds - I now weigh a svelte 63) and I'm looking for a
fur-ever home. I'm a sweet girl, and my favorite thing is
to snuggle with foster mom on the couch and have all the
other dogs pay homage (Danny just glares - I think he's
jealous). I'm a talker and will let you know if you're not
paying enough attention to me. I also like to give kisses
to show my appreciation. I enjoy going to the doggy
supermarket - the people there tell me how wonderful and
gorgeous I am. And, of course, I get lots of petting.
Foster mom says my new home should not have kitties because
I'm cat aggressive - but other dogs are OK. I prefer to be
with people, but I need a fenced yard to play and romp in.
My new family needs to give me my insulin and restricted
diet, and take me to the vet regularly to assess how my
blood glucose control is doing. Are you the family for
me?? Contact Bonnie at

KEGAN
KEGAN's birthdate is 1/15/08. He is very much a puppy - and a
typical Irish boy. He's go-go-go. He likes to stand in the
middle of the yard and watch the birds. He and his brother Korie
are best pals - they wrestle and romp a lot. Kegan did very well
at the Irish Setter Club of America National Specialty show in
PA in June - he was in the car for 7 hours (crated), behaved
well crated in the hotel room, stood nicely for grooming and
getting a bath, and was very social with meeting lots of new
people. He had not had much leash experience before the show -
but he did great. Looks like he is a quick learner. Kegan is a
sweet boy - likes to give gentle kisses; but can get wound-up
and jump up on people. He's crate trained - he's only loose in a
small area of the house when I can closely supervise him. He and
Korie think everything is a toy for them - especially towels,
which they steal and play tug with. A littermate of Kegan's has
severe hip dysplasia - she had a femoral head osteotomy (FHO) on
one leg when she was 6 months old. That's why Kegan's and
Korie's hips were radiographed while they were asleep for the
neuter - it's not something we routinely do, especially for dogs
that are walking fine. Kegan has a bit of swagger (is it
anatomic or attitude??) but has shown no mobility problems or
pain. He then went for a consult at the NC State Vet School -
they did Penn Hip radiographs. While Korie's hips are fine,
Kegan has hip dysplasia - the femoral heads are slightly
flattened and he has reasonable coverage, in his hip joints, but
there is laxity. We were prepared to have surgery done - but
they recommended to manage his hips medically, since he was
asymptomatic, with supplements, keeping him lean, minimizing
jumping (ha - guess they never dealt with a young Irish boy!),
etc. So, he's not a candidate for doing agility or tossing
Frisbee. Swimming would be good. The orthopedist thought that if
arthritis became a problem, he would need a total hip
replacement - but who knows what will be available in the
future. He's had no problem with his right eye since the
entropion surgery - when I picked him up, tears were pouring out
of that eye. He was so terrified when I got him that he would
not get out of their car - I had to pick him up and carry him to
mine. And he had no idea what a leash was. He's come so far
since late October - and deserves a home that will shower him
with attention and affection. In foster care with Vet Vicki
near Raleigh, NC. Contact Bonnie Foster at

KORIE .... KORIE
is a sweet boy with a beautiful dark red coat (DOB: January
15, 2008). He weighs about 65 pounds, is up-to-date on
vaccinations, heartworm negative and on monthly
preventative, and microchipped. Korie is a bit reserved with
strangers and it takes him some time to warm up to new
people. But once he does, he is affectionate and loves to be
made over. Korie received a lot of attention at the Irish
Setter National Speciality Show in Lancaster, PA in June -
and did very well in all the new situations he found himself
in. Korie loves running and playing with the other dogs. One
of his favorite past-times is pouncing in mud puddles! He is
a bit of a thief and will steal towels and such off the
counter. Korie is looking for a family with a nice fenced
yard, that will spend lots of time with him, and has
experience with young, energetic Irish boys. It would be
best for Korie to have another young dog to play with. Korie
is in foster care near Jacksonville, NC. Contact Bonnie
Foster at

DYLAN: Dylan is active, but
sweet boy around 5 years old. We've been told that he loves
children and would play with them all day. He sleeps on the bed,
rides in cars and loves to chase squirrels . He is ready for the
right family, and a home with a pool would be heaven to him. He
will even flop and play in the 3" deep wading pool water.
Dylan is offered for adoption by Irish Setter Rescue of North
Texas. Potential adopters should be willing to meet him in
person prior to adoption. Contact Glenna

Molly was
abandoned by her owner and had no place to go until she found
ISRNTX. She is a special needs girl because she is blind. She
had glaucoma and cataracts that went untreated long enough to
destroy the optic nerves in both eyes. Surgery has been done to
correct the pain from the glaucoma. She will not regain any
sight, but will have prospects of a much longer, pain-free life
ahead.
Meanwhile, we are working to teach her how to get around new
surroundings and she's learning fast. In the weeks since she
came into foster care, she's learned 3 different foster homes
including one with stairs! She's definitely one of those dogs
that will reward 10 times more than the effort spent.
Molly loves being with people and is very sweet and silly, too.
She loves children but would probably do best w/o toddlers
underfoot.
Molly is offered for adoption by Irish Setter Rescue of North
Texas. Potential adopters should be willing to meet her in
person prior to adoption. Contact Glenna
